The Best Weather App is built to give you accurate weather data as simply as possible. This policy explains what data the app uses, why, and how it's handled.
The short version: We use your location to get your forecast. We don't track you, we don't run analytics, and we don't show ads.
Location data. When you grant permission, the app accesses your device's location (latitude and longitude) to fetch weather forecasts for where you are. This is the core function of the app. You can also search for locations by name and save them as favourites.
Preferences. Your settings (such as temperature unit and theme) are stored locally on your device.
Install identifier. The app generates a random identifier the first time it runs and sends it, along with the app's version number, with each request to our server. It is not derived from your device's hardware, phone number, or any account, and it identifies an installation of the app — not you. We use it solely to protect the service: to throttle or block installations that make abusive volumes of requests, and to retire outdated app versions. Uninstalling the app (or clearing its data) deletes the identifier; a reinstall generates a new, unrelated one.
That's it. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any other personal information. There is no account system, no sign-up, and no login.
The app retrieves weather data from:
Severe-weather alerts come from official government sources: our server downloads public alert feeds published by national weather authorities (via the WMO Register of Alerting Authorities) and matches them to your area server-side — those authorities do not receive anything about you. The one exception is the United States, where our server queries the National Weather Service (privacy policy) with the forecast coordinates to retrieve alerts for that location.
These services receive the coordinates needed to fulfill your forecast request. They do not receive any other information about you.
The backend runs on Google Firebase (privacy policy). Firebase is used solely for hosting the API and caching forecast data. Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics are not enabled.
None. The app does not include any analytics SDKs, crash reporting tools, advertising frameworks, or tracking pixels. We do not track how you use the app. The random install identifier described above is used only for abuse prevention — it is never used to profile you or analyse usage.
The app requires a subscription, which is processed entirely by Google Play. We never see or store your payment details, Google account, or billing address; the app only learns whether an active subscription exists on the device. See Google's privacy policy for how Google handles purchase data.

The app does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. The app collects no personal information from anyone beyond what is described above, so no special provisions are needed.
